After what feels like an eternal semester, we are coming up into finals week. This has been one of the busier fall semesters I’ve experienced, due to traveling with the bowling team, but it has also been a pretty relaxed and enjoyable one school-wise. I’ve loved all the classes I’ve taken this semester, because they were interesting and interactive. I decided to take the time and recap some of my favourite parts of this 2021 semester.

Bowling had been very up and down. Some days I felt on my game, others I didn’t. I took a lot of extra time to practice on my own to help myself and my game, and as of where I am right now I feel confident that next semester will be an even better one. My favourite tournament of this semester was the MEAC Conference we attended in Maryland, I thought I had some really good shots and found out how to play different lines which I’m not used to. This tournament definitely helped me become more confident in bowling outside my comfort zone.
I found school to be quite enjoyable this semester; I’ve realised that every semester I’ve always had a class that I absolutely hated and made my day miserable just by attending. But at the end of last semester, I switched degrees from Sociology to Communications, and I’ve found these classes much more my speed and so much more interesting than what I used to take. Right now, I’m finishing up some final projects and preparing for exams, so it feels like my schedule is packed right now with assignments, but even then, they’re all interesting and I’m wanting to complete them. My favourite classes I took this semester were Social Media and Intro to Communications, because both professors allowed the students to be independent in their work and didn’t lecture or drag content out for too long; it was suited perfectly for the students.

I also had a great time hanging out with my friends. I’ve never been a super social person, but I’ve been able to find a great group of people that I want to hang out with a lot. My roommates (Siyah on the bowling team, Claire and Paige on the golf team) were always down to hang out in the apartment or go out and get ice cream; the bowling team were always doing something together, I didn’t feel so lonely this semester and I always had someone I could turn to if I needed someone. I hate making new friends, usually, but I feel like this semester got me out of my shell a bit and I really love the people I’ve surrounded myself with.
In between all of this, I’ve talked to my family a lot. I’ve had at least one phone call a day from my mum or dad and I FaceTime my brother every other weekend. I keep in contact with my friends regularly so I’ve always been occupied in some way or another. And as busy as this all sounds, I’ve been sure to take time out for myself and relax. Now it’s time to finish my finals and relax over the winter break before I do it all again!
